My right eyelid has been twitching on and off?

Question 1
My right eyelid has been twitching on and off?…  for the past five days or so. Should I be worried?

Answers
1)   It happens to a lot of people.

I think it has to do with staring at a screen for too long. – נυíсу сøυτυяε

2)   I’ve had something like that happen to me before. Try drinking gatorade, something with electrolytes. Your electrolyte balance may be out of whack. See if that helps it go away. – SheelaF

3)   Working on computers for too long and not getting enough sleep could be some possible causes. – Jonathan

4)   I don’t know how old you are, I will just think you are in your teens. This is a common problem when we are under stress. I get that when I am looking at one or more people who are talking to me that I feel extremely uncomfortable around or who are stressing me out. It’s embarrassing, but passes. When it happens, immediately acknowledge it, look away, move around & come back and focus. That should help. But if it’s always happening every single day, that could be signs of something a medical doctor may need to see. For example: Tardive Dyskina(sp?). Hope you are going to be okay. – live4theday

5)   Hahaha, I hate it when that happens to me.

YOU NEED TO GET OUT!

It just means you’ve been staring at the screen too long. – hanna who? #2

6)   Could you have some dust in your eye.

I don’t know. – What Do You Have To Say?

Question 3
Ear Piercinq Question ?…  I had my ears pierced the end of June 2OO9 . I cleaned them twice a day & they healed fine . About a week aqo they started to feel sore & itchy . I clean my ear & the earring with alcohol twice a day but they still hurt . What should I do ? Has this ever happened to anyone before ?

Answers
1)   This happens to me from time to time. Make sure you are using high quality gold earrings. Keep cleaning your ears and earrings. make sure you take the earrings out when you are sleeping. – stir-gently

2)   That means it got infected by a bacteria that does not getkilled by alcohol.

you have to put antibiotic ointment on the ear like polysporin, can be bought over the counter.

coat the earring with polysporin hen thread the earring through the hole to get the medicine inside the hole since that bacteria is living in the area where there is still blood and tissue trying to heal. The alcohol cannot penetrate there anyway, just the surface of the ear – QuiteNewHere

3)   I recommend you to see —-> http://www.all-home-remedies.com

4)   Did you have them pierced with a piercing gun, or a hollow needle? I had my ears pierced with the gun 4 or 5 times, and every time they got so infected that eventually I couldn’t take it anymore and let it close – what finally worked for me was going to a tattoo/piercing shop, and getting them pierced with a hollow needle, by a professional piercer. They got a little irritated, but I just used salt water to clean them and eventually all was well. If I remember correctly I believe the reason ears get infected so much with the gun is that it just pierces the earring straight through, trapping some bits of skin inside the hole. With a professional piercing/hollow needle, the hole is made BEFORE the earring goes in, and it pushes everything through, leaving a clean sterile environment. My suggestion is to use salt water to clean them, and ask a piercer or doctor if they don’t get better. If you must, let them close and get them pierced again at a professional piercing place. Oh another thing that helped me too was getting surgical steel earrings (even some sterling silver earrings and gold plated can cause irritation, though many people think they’re completley safe for everyone) – this is the ultimate material for people with sensitive ears. And, get hoops as opposed to earrings with backs, right off the bat – this allows the earring to move around more in the hole, and without backs, theres nothing for infection crud to get stuck on and cause more infection. Good luck! – Katie M

Are you trying to be emo? If you’re not going through depression then I wouldn’t recommend that, even if you’re trying. But if you must know, I’d say behind your ankle. Any ideas ?
i did not know where to put this

Answers
1)   Use a little bit of nail polish. If that doesn’t work a small razor blade will scrape it off without damaging the glass. – Kassie

2)   Leave them soaking in warm water for several hours however if the lens has been glued in the specs frame, forget it, may as well go and buy new. – Manchesterlad

3)   Super glue remover

http://www.amazon.com/Henkel-Corporation-01-80844-Super-Remover/dp/B000S0YWJM – SheelaF

The acetone in the nail varnish remover will break down the super glue, and you can just rub it off with some warm water.

Be warned though… the longer the acetone is on the glass, the higher the chance of discoloration.

Is there any way I can improve my eyesight?

Question 1
Is there any way I can improve my eyesight?…  my eyesight is pretty bad and for some reason it just keeps getting worse. my last doctors appointment it was 20 80 and the one before that it was 20 60. i heard that when your in your teens your eyesight kind of fluctuates and i’m a teenager so i guess maybe that could be the cause of it. but is there anything (like eye exercises) that i could do to improve my vision?

Answers
1)   Vitamin A helps eyesight, but I can’t think of anything other than that. – Games4me

2)   yeah role themmmmmmm. – Dark Knight

3)   I recommend you to see —-> http://www.all-home-remedies.com

I hope that will resolve your problem, keep using answers.yahoo.com – Jhon

4)   You may not be able to improve your actual vision but you can strengthen your eyes and help keep the muscles and parts in good working order. Take Vitamins A, D and E and all the antioxidents. They are great for the eyes. Be sure you are seeing a Doctor of Optomology and not just an Optomologist. There is a huge difference. Its the difference like going to a real doctor or to a Nurse Practicioner. You need the best if you have that bad of vision. I know. I was born blind and deaf and my parents just took me to optomologists when I started seeing and since I switched to these Doctor’s of Optomology in this group they have taken my vision with glasses from 20/40 and 20/60 to 20/20 and 20/25 while wearing glasses. That is the difference. They actually have me seeing a Pediatric Surgeon now due to having two eye surgeries but she has really helped me. I even do kids exercises for my eyes and I’m near 60 now but they have improved so much with having the real doctors who are really trained in their profession verses just optomotrists who only know the basic eyes. Good luck. – ‘Sunnyside Up’

Question 2
Is it normal for my hand to hurt after cutting it?…  I cut my hand the other day with a knife, while doing the dishes. It took an hour or so to stop bleeding. My mom washed it, which stung like crazy, put Polysporin on it and a band-aid, cause she didn’t think it was deep enough to go to the hospital for. I have been changing the band-aid and putting more Polysporin on it 3-4 times a day. Today while trying to cover the cut, I moved my hand, which caused the cut to reopen and bleed for about another hour. Now my hand is really sore and my pinky finger is sore also. I’m just wondering if this is normal, or if I should get it looked at by a doctor. Any feedback would be helpful, as I really don’t know what I should do. Thanks!

Answers
1)   its nornal for it too hurt and make some fingers hurt but just in case go to the doctor – Jeanne

2)   if it opens again go see a doctor. – Jacob

3)   The hand has a *lot* of nerve endings, so it is normal to feel pain after a cut — especially with a sharp knife. However, you need to watch for signs of infection — bright red wound and hand, red streaks that extend outward, usually up the hand and arm, heat around the wound and hand. It’s nothing to worry about now, but you need to keep an eye on it and get medical help IMMEDIATELY if you start seeing those red streaks or bright red spreading around the wound.

In the meantime, ice helps bring down swelling, and thus pain.

Remember — keep a close eye on it. – Tamara

I heard that chronic pain usually burns itself out over a number of many years. Is this likely to be true?…  Has anyone heard anything or know anything about this topic? I’m sick of suffering for over two decades already…..thank you.

Tried Cymbalta, doesn’t help :(

Answers
1)   I have multi friends with back problems. Each of their doctors have said that. Keep up the good fight, it’ll get better. – appsptspcl

2)   No it doesn’t. In fact it usually gets worse, depending upon what muscles you are talking about. If in your back the muscles are pulling the vertebrae together so tight that it can cause disc damage if left in the tight state too long. You didn’t say what muscles are giving you pain but back muscles are a good guess and you can release them to get rid of the pain by doing this:

Back:

(do from a sitting position)

Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.

for best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed. – Douglas B

3)   Two ideas: have you tried cymbalta? Sometimes it helps physical pain.

Have you tried Xyrem? It’s a highly controlled sleeping drug that makes sure you get sufficient restorative sleep. It’s thought that by getting the proper rest over a period of time, the body stops overreacting to pain stimuli.

I’m sorry you have so much pain. I wish I could tell you it would go away on its own, but it may not. Keep looking for new and different ways to help. Try everything. Living your life in pain is soooo hard. I know.

5)   There are so many reasons that these common symptoms could be coming up so often for you. There’s really no way to tell what’s causing these things until you go see a doctor who’s trained to diagnose you.

That being said, it’s possible your missing some sort of nutrient or vitamin in your diet, as that would easily cause these sorts of symptoms. Or it could be something like a migrane, in which case I would try some advil.

But my best advice is to go get checked out if these symptoms have persisted for more than a week or so. – dance*is*my*life

6)   The light headed and tired comes from tight muscles in your neck restricting the blood flow to the brain. You aren’t getting enough oxygen to keep going and the depletion of it causes the light headed feeling and tired. The headache is also from those tight muscles so it will be gone when released. I’m not sure about the nauseated feeling. Here’s how to release your neck muscles to get rid of those problems:

Neck

Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.

For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed. – Douglas B

I was actually pretty suprised taht after they wrapped it they gave me absolutly no direction on what to do. So now i am sitting here with my hand still wrapped up with the bandages and even that goo that is over the stitches. All they told me was to come back in a week to get them taken out and not to let them get wet. I really have no idea what to do with it now. Do i take off the bandages? Do I wash it?? Help!

3)   You can’t get them wet, so do not wash it. I think they want you to just leave the same bandages on it for a whole week… that doesn’t sound very sanitary though… you should call them to find out. If I were you I would think to go to the drug store and get some bandages to change daily, but yeah don’t wash it, you can’t get it wet. – I’m in love with my toddler

4)   You should change your bandages daily. You can clean around the area w/out getting the stitches wet. Pat dry. Wounds need some air to heal. Whats wrong with my poop?…  I know this is sick but im a bit worried

in 30 minutes i made 3 trips to the bathroom

1st time my poop was in small chunks like it normally is

2nd It was SO long and it was kinda soft and burned when it came out

3rd I had one half as long same consistency and then a lot of diarrhea

Is this something I should worry about? After the second one my lower belly hurt and I was scared maybe it did something to my intestines or something

Answers
1)   this is the best question I have ever seen.

I have no idea what’s wrong with your poop, but I just laughed my butt off. – Jesus Is Evil

2)   are you a boy or girl?

because if your a girl, then you might be expecting your period. I know this sounds gross but i poop ALOT on my period cuz what happens is, your uterus contracts & makes ur intestines squeeze. therefore poop comes out.

but if ur a boy, then maybe you thought u were done pooping but u really werent. causing u to go back to the bathroom. – PipSqueekRaquel

3)   Probably just something you ate. You have bacteria, protozoans, amoebae, etc. inside your gut. Sometimes, either what you eat has stuff in it that messes with your body or the little microbes you already have in your body OR there is a physical barrier that is removed. SO, maybe you were constipated and then things backed up but then broke free.

I would think one of these two scenarios occurred:

You ate something that irritated your intestinal mucosa (like super spicy peppers, hence the burning (but, the burning might have resulted after wiping from the first time)) or the bacteria in your gut already.

You ate contaminated food. Not all bacteria that you eat that cause "food poisoning" make you super sick. Sometimes, you just get a little diarrhea.

No matter what, I bet that you’re fine tomorrow. You might have one more episode of diarrhea, but you should be fine after that.

DRINK fluids to replace the lost water, though. Diarrhea kills more people each year than you know. – Shane N

5)   A persons pattern and consistency of bowel movements (poop) can vary greatly depending on what you have eaten. This is normal. Additionally, some people have stools like you describe when feeling stressed. There is some possibility that you could have eaten something that was a bit too old so that bacteria was starting to multiply. That would resuIt in diahrea for about 24 hours and probably some vomiting too and in most cases goes away on its own. It could, of course, be a viral infection. None of these should be a major source of concern. Buy some Pepto Bismol and take as directed. If the diarhea does not clear up in 24 to 48 hours after you take the pepto or if you develop bloody stools (not just a few drops because that can just be hemmorhoids and is not serious) you probably should see your doctor. – BlessingsMom

When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.

Question 2
My back is constantly cracking!!!?…  about a year ago i fell off a trampoline right on the middle of my spine…. I got the wind knocked out of me but that was primarily it…. i feel like the fall however pushed part of my spine a little inward…now for some reason my back cracks constantly (not sure if the fall did anything) when i bend my back backwards a little it usually produces 5 cracks in the upper spine. when i lie on my bed on the laptop and breathe in deeply my back usually cracks…..I run track, hurdles, and high jump (may or may not contribute to my back ) the cracking doesnt hurt at all but does relieve tension……Any reason for this??????

2)   When there has been trauma to the muscles like that they usually tighten up to give pain and in the very least just tighten up which doesn’t give pain but does leave the body doing things it wouldn’t normally do. For that reason it would be good to release the muscles in your back, get them all back together at zero again and it should take care of anything wrong. Here’s how to do that:

Question 4
How Do I Get My Sleep Schedule Back On Track?…  I am starting school in 9 days.

And lately, I have been staying up until 5 am, and waking up at 10 am.

My parents have been waking me up 10 am or earlier the past few days. I am REALLY tired.

But I try gettting to sleep earlier, but I end up staying awake for 2 or 3 hours just lying in my bed.

I am NOT a morning person. I am always awake at night though. And my school starts at 8:00 but I have to get up at 6:00 for my bus, which comes at 6:50.

You would think that not getting much sleep every night would make me want to go to bed, but it doesn’t.

And I can’t do the whole stay up all night, then got to bed early thing. I need my energy for "Family fun" activities such as hiking or kayaking. When I tell my mom this, shes like "YOU ARE STAYING UP UNTIL 5:00 AM??? WE ARE GETTING YOU BACK ON TRACK, YOU ARE WAKING UP EARLY!!!" And my parents won’t listen!!!

I’m not drinking any caffiene either. but i am barely getting any sleep now.

What should I do????????
I am really tired during the day, but at night I am wide awake.
And I am only 13
on a regular school day, i only get about 7 hours of sleep or maybe even less. it takes me 1 or 2 hours to fall asleep

2)   Hi there,

I used to have the same problem when I was at school, and I found that the best solution was just to wait until school starts. When school starts you’ll HAVE to wake up early, you have no choice…and you’re lucky since your parents wake you up for school. After a few days of waking up early and sleeping too late, your body will react and start to feel tired, so you’ll need more sleep. you’ll automatically want to sleep after you get home from school.

So don’t worry, our body always finds ways to show us what it needs :)perpil

3)   hmm i had a similar problem..try tiring yourself throughout the day, mabye exercising or trying to build up the energy to do the family fun things(like, act like your awake and not tired) do anything to tire your body out! by the time the day is over, youll be too tired to stay awake…close your eyes and soon enough ull go 2 sleep…btw, when school starts, ull have to wake up early anyways..when u wake up early, youll soon bee able to sleep earlier also…dont take sleeping pills unless u REALLY have to… – gurl U dnt know

6)   Tell ur parents it’s the best way to start the healing process once u tell them then they can understand and get u help that way u can have a lot of support and make it easier on u to stop… To stop cutting is a slow process but u learn a lot from it… Hope I helped:) – Britt D

7)   Please, hurting yourself to not feel the pain deep inside but feeling the pain on your arms and wrists are NOT the answer. You will always feel pain inside, so cutting yourself is for nothing. Many many years later in life, you’ll look back at your arms and wrists & it WILL bring back horrible memories. You wouldn’t want to get married and have kids and let them see your beautiful arms like this. People who cut themselves are really depressed and think that they shall feel the pain on the cuts instead of the emotional pains inside, but that doesn’t really help AT ALL. You MUST stop right away, if you go on with all the constant cutting and slicing, it’s like you’re slowly giving up on your friends, your family, and your life. You’re getting hurt and hurt, and they will hurt even MORE seeing you like this. It takes alot for depressed people to build the courage and strength to get up and find the reason to live instead of finding the reasons to end. Think about it. I never cut myself but I often thought about it. I look at my best friends and her sliced arms, it makes me sad to see she isn’t as strong of a person as I am. She’s easily broken and I understand that. But I try ti find her the right reasons to not give up and continue living her life. Giving up on life is giving up on god’s creation (created you) of making a difference in his world. Make a good difference! Giving up upon yourself will most definitely not making everybody else that loves you a good life to live with. – gothguh

8)   hmm… my first ? is.. why [not a bad one] i i understand where your coming from[the cutting part.. done it.]. umm. if your afraid to talk to your parents/friends then dont. i know its hard to stop, but its better to stop. since your didnt really say why your doing it, if your sad then dont be[i know hard to do]. i saw on degrassi that elli used a "rubber band method" to stop cutting herself. whenever she felt like doing it she would snap the the rubber band on her wrist, thats off tv so i dont really know if it works or not. but if your looking for support [you hight of heard of it] try twloha {to write love on her arms} its a campain about cutting. i dont know if ive helped, but i hope i did! The pains do start in your neck muscles, the pain gets so bad that the message they send to the brain becomes so intense that all the brain feels is pain, so we call it a headache, blaming the messenger rather than the sender. Once you release you neck muscles the headache should be gone. Here’s how to release those muscles:

If any pain remains repeat the release.

How can I keep my foot dry in the shower?

Question 1
How can I keep my foot dry in the shower?…  So I managed to completly mangle my toe at a church activity the other day. Ironically there were 2 doctors and a nurse there so I didn’t have to go to the emergency room (my mom works in the emergency room so that would have been really awkward). So they all took care of it and made life happy, but they said that I couldn’t walk on it for a while so I haven’t been able to take a shower since then (and I feel absolutly discusting). So today is the first day they said I could walk on it and I am so taking a shower. How do you keep the foot dry? Is there any method other than the plastic bag method? I’m kinda worried about water seeping in.

Answers
1)   you can get waterproof things for it, OR just have a bath and keep your foot out – Liib

2)   just take a bath and leave your leg hanging over the tub ledge – Mrs. Christofer Drew Ingle.<3

3)   plastic bag and a rubber band or duct tape.

kinda sucks, and your going to end up getting SOME water in there, but it wont be enough to make a huge difference.

oh, and use like, a big sandwich bag rather than a grocery bag. less likely to have holes. wrap the top with a rubber band or duct tape, and then like, the middle of your foot too, so its kinda shaped to your foot, and you have an extra layer stopping it from leaking down to your toe – Ashley D

4)   They use the plastic bag method in the hospital and just tape it very snug to the skin. Or you could have your mom help you wash your hair in the sink and get bath towelettes to run over your body – Carrie

5)   Don’t think there’s any other option than a plastic bag with a an elastic band around your ankle. If the elastic is tight enough, no water will get in. Used that option myself some years ago, when I had stitches in my foot – Sandy Peters

2)   Well to me this sounds like perhaps a hairline fracture and it needs to be attended too at this very moment. the pain has not gone away by now that means there is something wrong with it. if it were only a small strain on the wrist the pain would have left or at least eased up a bit. if it continues with no treatment or at least being seen by a doctor you are setting yourself up for infections. which is not going to be fun when you do have to go. my advice to you is get to an emergency room somewhere. ask a friend, sister,co worker etc. and get that pain taken care of before your wrist turns into serious complications. hairline fractures hurt worse than a break . 3)   If you are not sure, you may go to the doctor, meanwhile you can read this article about the symptoms of Spondylosis:

Symptoms of Spondylosis: Introduction

The types and severity of symptoms of spondylosis vary between individuals and will differ depending on the specific type of spondylosis. Cervical spondylosis affects the cervical spine of the neck. Thoracic spondylosis affects the thoracic spine of the mid and upper back, and lumbar spondylosis affects the lumbar spine of the lower back.

At the onset of the condition, which can begin by age 30, many people do not have symptoms. Symptoms of spondylosis can be vague and develop slowly, or in some cases they may occur suddenly. Symptoms often do not appear until the middle years or later. Some people never develop symptoms.

Symptoms of lumbar spondylosis include lower back pain, commonly beginning at age 40 or later. There can also be lower back stiffness in the morning. Lower back pain can occur with movement and activity or while sitting still. Standing or lying down tends to be less painful than sitting for long periods of time. Lifting and bending often aggravates lower back pain due to lumbar spondylosis.

Symptoms of thoracic spondylosis can include mid-back pain during hyperextension or flexion of the back.

Symptoms of cervical spondylosis include neck pain. Neck pain can progress in severity over time and can lead to neck stiffness and difficulty moving the neck. Pain may radiate to the arms or shoulders. People with spondylosis may also have muscle weakness and numbness and tingling of the shoulder, arms, hands or legs. Headaches, dizziness, and loss of balance may also occur. A herniated disc or bulging disc are also possible symptoms.

In some cases, complications are possible. If the nerves that control the bladder or anal sphincter are compressed, a person may have difficulty controlling the bladder or anal sphincter and experience urinary incontinence or fecal incontinence. In rare cases cervical radiculopathy and cervical myelopathy can occur and lead to permanent disability.

Other possible complications of spondylosis include spinal osteoarthritis, chronic pain, and disability…. – dolcevitta_1

Question 1
I just stepped on broken glass?…  I had just stepped on broken glass (window smashed). I have to limpe. I washed my leg but it keeps on bleeding, I’m not sure if glass went inside my foot but it hurts. Should I call am Ambulance or just bandage it up?

Answers
1)   yes, this is serious .. you should see the doctor – UnknownSoldier

2)   call just encase, not necessarily call them over to your house but to ask what you can do and/or ask if your condition is a serious one. – Fang-fm

3)   first let bleed as much as you can. if glass slivers when inside they might just come back out. wash it under running water, if you have peroxide, wash with that too. bandage it up as tightly as possible than go to the emergency room. i dont know you may need stitches if the cut is really deep – phillip2167

4)   Bandage it up and go to see a doctor to ensure no glass is inside your foot and to give you an antibiotic shot.

However if the bleeding is squirting or pulsing out you need to bandage it and call an ambulance. This would indicate that you have a bleeding artery which can be serious. – cynica

5)   Be a little bold and soft press over the wound to check if something hard feels. If it does then it glass which needs to be removed.

To stop bleeding, wash your wound with clean cold water (the colder the better, get some from refrigerator). Once bleeding reduces, slowly and without exerting pressure, apply ice. In the end you can do the dressing by using clean bandage and the right ointment. Best would be to see your general physician. They are competent at handling such accidents. – King of d Kings

3)   just quit smoking now, and smoke when your baby is out!!! just make yourself a gift at the end of it, a reward that you successfully stopped quitting for the babies benefit!!! make a present with a bow on it when the baby is born, with a cigarette pack in it… just stop quitting for now though, don’t want anything wrong to go on with your baby… im a dude and i smoke too, and i understand your conditions too, but i wouldn’t want anything to go wrong with my baby also – skatergeek

4)   Decrease your smoking very gradually. Quitting cold turkey can be really hard on your system, and therefore bad for the baby. Find times and places to cut out of your smoking routine until everything is eliminated. After you start to show, the cold stares and squints of hatred you get from random strangers should be enough to guilt you into quitting. – Laurie

2)   Ive been having bad pain in my stomach too, mine feels like a really bad cramp too, I dont know what it is, but i eat poorly. Sugar causes my pain i think, Maybe trying cutting out dairy for a day, see how you feel, then do the same with meat, then fruit, then sugar etc. Most likely its a flu stomach bug, cramps, or food problem,If all fails go see your doctor

(: – Reggie<3

3)   It sounds like you have a tight muscle in your back that is pressing against the nerves for other organs as they leave the spine to cause them to act up or go into pain. That pressure can be making one of your organs do a cramp and give you the pain. You have to release the muscles in your back to get rid of that pain and here’s how to do it"

– Douglas B

Is it harmful to mix different brands of painkillers?

Question 1
Is it harmful to mix different brands of painkillers?…  My Bestfriend started her period yesterday. She was having really bad cramps. So, she took some pain killers to make the pain stop. Yesterday she took 8 painkillers. All the painkillers she took was from different brands. She took advil, midol, tylenol, and tylenol pm. I was just wondering is it harmful to mix different brands of painkillers?? I really need help with this. I care about her sooo much and I don’t want her to hurt herself.

Answers
1)   Taking all of them at the same time might worsen her pain! – Britilicious

2)   Yes. Your not suppose to mix medicines together. – LilJoshy

3)   Yes it is. Someone could overdose on tylenol if they take another painkiller which has acetaminophen in it. It’s more important to know what is in a painkiller than it’s brand name. – raymond m

4)   It can be, yes. If taken at the same time. Some have the same drugs. It’s important to look at the package and see what each contains. Midol can have either acetaminophen (which is the same thing as Tylenol) or Naproxen (which is Aleve). Also, Ibuprofen (which is Advil). You can take tylenol and then, if it doesn’t work, take some advil. But you should not take advil and then take something else that also has ibuprofen in it. Same thing with Tylenol. If you take tylenol, do not take anything else that also has acetaminophen in it at the same time (you can wait 6 hrs, then take more). And please, do not take more than 4000mg of acetaminophen in any 24 hr period.

Hope that helps. – KB929

5)   Tell her not to take more than a total of 800mg of Ibuprofen and 2000mg of acetaminophen in one day. Some doctors give both types to prevent an overdose on either of these medicines. What she might also consider is what other health conditions she has and what other medications she already takes, because sometimes blood pressure/heart, antibiotics, and mental health medications dont mix well with the over the counter drugs you have listed here. Tell her to call her doctor’f office and ask to speak with the desk nurse. She might have to leave a message and expect a callback but she should be happy to answer her question. – shellywell

4)   See your health care provider as soon as possible (rheumatologist). Most so-called arthritis is not arthritis at all! Misunderstanding comes about because doctors and patients use the term differently. The "arth" part of the word means "joint"–not muscle, tendon, ligament, or bone. The "itis" means "inflamed." Thus, true arthritis means joints that are red, warm, swollen, and painful to move.

There are over 100 types of arthritis. These are the four most common:

Osteoarthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis

Gout

Ankylosing spondylitis

Aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Nuprin, etc.), and naproxen (Aleve, etc.) can reduce the pain and swelling in the joints. The usual dosage for each is two tablets every four to six hours.

I hope this helps you. And good luck. – imsety

Question 3
Help getting shots please!?…  I HATE syringes. The doctors like"You’ll just feel a little pinch" but I think "Fuck no!! I feel a needle going into my arm and injecting me with vaccines!!" The problem is that I might have to get shots soon. HELP!!!!! Are there any tips to help me NOT FEEL THE NEEDLE AT ALL? I also need tips on blood tests. They use a really fucking fat ass needle and inject it into you vein! I need tips on how to not feel anything during those too! Please help!!
I have a nerve problem and what happens is that whenever I think of syringes or needles my entire arm starts twitching uncontrollably. I also feel like theres a needle going inside when theres not. That poses a problem for most tips and facts involving pain from shots or blood tests.

2)   let the nurse now you have a phobia toward needles..bring your music and blast it, with headphone and let nurse know you’ll be ignoring her and looking away till it’s done. they can also use ethyl chloride, a skin knubing spray so you don’t feel needle. and a butterfly needle to draw your blood..good luck ;)Erika A

3)   "I have a nerve problem and what happens is that whenever I think of syringes or needles my entire arm starts twitching uncontrollably. I also feel like theres a needle going inside when theres not. That poses a problem for most tips and facts involving pain from shots or blood tests."

That sounds more like a physical manifestation of your phobia, rather than something *caused* by a nerve problem.

It’s natural and rational to be a little scared of being injected – it’s a foreign body going into you, which ordinarily is something we try to avoid! However, it’s being done by well trained medics, and for very good reason, so it’s useful to be able to fool your brain into thinking everything is perfectly fine.

Tell the person doing the jab you have a phobia of injections and needles. Don’t let them fob you off with "this won’t hurt" – past experience has taught you this isn’t always true. Honesty – as in "this will feel a little sore for a couple of seconds" can be much more useful!

Numbing cream like Emla cream (lidocaine cream) can be applied beforehand, and can be really useful if pain is the major issue for you.

Breathing techniques to get you to relax would be likely to help a lot. Just put "relaxation breathing techniques" into your favourite search engine and have a look at some that come up. Practice them before you get into situations that make you anxious, and then they’re easier to use when you need them.

Butterfly needles for taking blood can be great, too.

You can get over the fear. It takes a little practice, but you will get there! – Robin

4)   Ask the person doing the injection to insert the needle quickly and pull you skin taut as you can stand it. Usually when I administer an injection, I do almost a quick stabbing motion. Some people look away and never know I gave them a shot…9 out of 10. I have been a nurse 13 years and at the doctor’s office where I work people sometimes ask me to draw the blood and give their injections. Good Luck and Look Away!! – shellywell

Question 4
Severe pain moving through my leg?…  For the past few days, I get extreme sharp pain in legs(not at the second, but feel it little bit in my foot)…..especially left leg….the pain constantly moves around through my left leg….it feels just like something is moving around through my leg! I’m not saying I think there really is, but that is what it feels like :( Pain stronger in the top of my (left)foot…. but can go all the way up to my hip….the pins and needles are worse, too. Yesterday, the pain was so bad, I was at Mcdonalds, and I got so sick to the stomach and dizzy. I can`t stand or put too much pressure on where it hurts. I know its not a sprain. Actually I went on a 5 hour drive, and was fine before then….brought on worse by sitting, prolonged standing, or lyind down….This is NOT the start of my leg problems.I`ve had them for a while, but this stuff is new, plus really painful! Its worse at night it seems. Yesterday, it was so bad, that I felt dizzy, and sick for a few seconds….please help, doctor is not n option, but maybe outpatients…I feel the pain right now,but not very bad….if it was, I wouldn`t be able to send this! 2)   Maybe your sciatic nerve – the longest nerve in your body stretching from the base of your back down to each foot.

If it has become trapped or otherwise damaged, the resulting "sciatica" is pretty horrendous; take it to casualty/out patients and get a proper diagnosis.

Trapped sciatic nerves can be helped by physiotherapy, chiropractors and osteopaths – Veronica Alicia

3)   That is coming from pinched muscles in your back pressing on the nerves going to your legs. They can tell you all you want to know about the bones with an x-ray but it doesn’t pick up pinched muscles so they are always over looked. If they did show up it would be helpful. To get rid of the pain you have to release the muscles in your back and here’s how to do that:

Back:

(do from a sitting position)

Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly press on them and hold.
