4)   Your back pain is caused by pinched muscles in your back and they have to be freed up to get rid of the pain. Here’s how to release those muscles to do that:

Back:

(do from a sitting position)

Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.

Your neck pains are caused by tight muscles in your neck and they need to be released to get rid of those pains and here’s how to do that:

Neck

Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.

6)   In general if you have an injury or inflammation the treatment for the first 48 hours is cold compresses (ice directly on skin increases the risk of frost bite which is considered a burn) for 20 minute intervals and Nonsteroidal Anti Imflamatory Drugs (NSAIDs) like Ibuprofen or Naproxen as directed. A pharmacist or your doctor can recommend if this should be taken. After the 48 hours warm moist compresses (if the cold help, alternate with warm) for up to 4 hours at a time. Massage and warm compresses may help if you are having spasms. Neck pain could be muscle spasm, arthritis in the neck vertebrae, pinched nerves or a disc out of place. If the pain persists seek your doctors advice. – chiprn2002

Question 4
Monthly wrist pain only in right wrist?…  For at least a few years now only my right wrist has been getting monthly (so it seems) pains that last for a couple weeks, then goes away. It only hurts right where that bone is that sticks up in the middle a little when I turn my wrist downward (like a praying mantis for visual description). It also hurts the most when I do as such, and especially worst when I press on it. I ride a motorcycle, use my computer a lot, used to wrestle, and hardly write anymore. The tendons themselves dont hurt, just the joint part. This is also my hitting hand. I sometimes hit walls when I get really angry typically hard enough to create golf ball sized swelling on the knuckle, but never have I broken it (as far as I know). If it was carpal tunnel then wouldnt the tendons hurt instead? I cant really afford to have my doctor look at it as I dont have insurance. And its only once a month or 2 so its only a partial annoyance. It doesnt just appear after anything specific, it slowly gets sore over a few days then subsides about a week or 2 later. Any opinions? I hate not being able to go on rides no longer than 20min on my motorcycle during the summer.

2)   That pain can be coming from the tendons of your wrists if they are tight to cause the wrist to be pulled into the forearm bone to cause the pain. You have to free up those tendons by releasing them to get rid of the pain and here’s how to do that:

Wrist:

With hand resting in front of you and your wrist bent half way closed, press down hard slightly behind the wrist and hold that pressure. After 30 seconds slowly open your wrist up as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your wrist open for another 30 seconds.

For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed. – Douglas B

Question 5
I broke my toe……?…  my brother stepped on my toe soo hard and broke it. i have pics but theyre on my facebook. it looks broken and feels relly broken. its the worst physical pain ive ever felt in my life! i even cried alittle! and i know doctors cant do nothin bout it, and im goin ice skating 2 morrow. i hope its not relly broken. anyways on how i can make it feel better til 2morrow? i already drank milk. bleh i gaged doin that shiz!

Answers
1)   Well, sorry to say but you can’t have a broken toe be cured by the day after it first got broken. But if you think it’s broken ask an adult first if its broken or not. If it is, I’d take a napkin and wet it with warm water and rest for a little while. Then, I’d try to walk again. If it feels better, then you may be able to go ice skating, if not I wouldn’t be able to. – Mayee Aboelenin

2)   Okay, milk isn’t gonna do sh*t if it’s broken, just thought i’d let you know. If your toe is broken, depending on which toe it is, it would be stupid to go ice skating. You need to ice it and rest it as much as possible if it really is broken. If you go to the doctor they might be able to give you a little toe splint or something. I wouldn’t go ice skating if I were you, it’ll just hurt and you’ll end up screwing it up even more. – laxgirl1234

3)   Um, don’t ice skate. If it’s not broken, which i doubt, it’s obviously a really bad sprain, which can take weeks to heal. One day is not going to be enough time for it to heal noticeably at all. Likely it’ll be worse tomorrow, because you’ve slept on it and probably walked on it. Remember, injuries often get worse before they get better. – B

3)   To get rid of a migraine or headache, for they both start in the same place, you have to release the muscles in your neck. Those muscles get so tight that they send a message so intense to the brain that all it feels is pain when it’s received, so we call it a headache, blaming the messenger rather than the sender. Migraines are more muscles involved and tighter, so the release for them is the same as for a headache. Here’s how to release those muscles to get rid of the pains:

If any pain remains repeat the release.

Migraines can also affect the back muscles because there are shared ones in the upper back so releasing those muscles as well is to keep the pains from happening again. Here’s how to make that release:

Question 4
Lost My Voice, help please?…  Hey! So here is my problem. About 2-3 days ago I had a really soar throat but thought it would go away, then I started to get a runny nose and a soar throat, and then the next day (yesterday) I felt my ears plug up but no longer had a soar throat. This morning, I woke up really early and couldn’t go back to bed. I was super reliever though, cause I didn’t feel any other symptoms except for a really runny nose. Then, I turned on some music after losing hope of falling back to sleep, and as I tried to sing along, no sound came out. So I then tried to talk and again, no sound! It’s been two hours and now I can talk very quietly and it it SUPER croaky. But still barely any sound comes out.

SO! I NEED to be able to sing well in 5 days as I have two singing auditions!! This has never happened to me before and it SUCKS!

WHAT DO I DO?! Drink tea, not talk or say anything, just go on complete voice rest? Is there anything I can do? Do you think I’ll get better in 4-5 days?

HELP OS SOOOO MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Answers

2)   drink:

tea (herbal, slippery elm is good for your throat) + honey (local is best) + lemon

yes, rest your voice and keep yourself really well hydrated so your throat stays moist. you’ll have to pee like a mother, but it’s worth it. also use a vaporizer in your room.

also, don’t even try to whisper – that’s bad for your throat. carry around a pen and paper to talk to people.

Good luck!! – HowInTheWorld

3)   Oh my goshh!! Losing your voice can be such a pain!! It’s like losing an arm!! :P

I’ve gone through it before, but don’t worry sweetie…you’ll have your voice back in no time!!

First of all…make sure you don’t take anyone’s advice to drink TEA WITH LEMON AND HONEY!!

There’s nothing wrong with honey, but Lemon and Tea are both acidic…and it will only make your throat worse!! :( Instead, i recommend you drink HOT MILK AND HONEY! :D

You should definitely DRINK A LOT OF WATER!! :) Believe me…it helps a ton!

Another thing…DO NOT WHISPER….Whispering will only make it worse…you can communicate with someone by writing down on a note! :)

Try this tonight before going to bed: gargle with warm water + half teaspoon normal table salt (salt helps to remove any bacteria) for about 2-3 minutes and go to sleep without talking to anyone….it should help.

Well, this is everything I did…and i got my voice back in TWO days! :D Hope it helps! Keep me posted! <3 xx :)SLxx

strange headache…migraine?…  so i have had a headache for about 10 hours which is really weird because if i do get a headache it is usually only for an hour and i know the cause but this came on gradually and i don’t know why. it is on the left side of my head, more towards the front and a couple of hours ago my eye started hurting. i have been taking ibuprofen but it hasn’t done much. is this just a migraine or should i look into it further? thanks in advance!

Answers
1)   Your eye hurts?

Your actual eyeball or behind it? Blurry vision?

You should go to the doctors in the morning and ask if perhaps there a buildup of pressure. It’s not good if your eye hurts. It’s not a life or death situation, but you don’t want a buildup of csf fluid as that can eventually lead to hearing loss, blindness, and a lot of other bad stuff, not to mention pain, if left untreated for too long. – Darth Amyus

2)   If you want to get rid of the headache/migraine you have to go to the cause of the headache, the muscles in your neck. They get so tight they send a message to the brain that’s so intense that all the brain feels is pain, so we call it a headache, blaming the messenger rather than the sender. The muscles go to the top of your head for it’s movements. The nerves for your eyes have to go to the back of your head to the optic center, passing right by those muscles. When the muscles are tight they press into the nerves to cause the pains and problems with the eyes. To get rid of the pains you have to release the muscles in your neck and here’s how to do that:

2)   You have pinched muscles in your back causing those pains. When you have pinched muscles in the upper back the pains like to follow the ribs to the front and manifest themselves as rib, chest or heart pains. The pain increases when you inhale because the ribs are expanding putting more pressure on the pinched muscles. To get rid of the pains you have to free them up and that’s done by releasing them. The shoulder pain is also release with the same release. Here’s how to get rid of the pain:

Question 5
My ankles hurt when I run?…  Does this mean I have weak ankles?

And ir happens with any type of shoe!

My ankles aren’t actually all that noticeable.. I think you call it having kankles. But I’m not fat at all.

Is there a way I can exercise my ankles and make them more noticeable, or at least get them to stop hurting?

Even though they don’t seem like a big part of life, people always ask why it looks like I don’t have any ankles!

Answers
1)   You may have what they call ’shin splints’. Its not serious, and its very common (athletes get it from time to time). You should look it up and see if it applies to you. – Wyatt

2)   well it could be genetic also maybe ur soleus muslce looks really big and ur gastrocneues is small making it lok liek u have kankles btu when u say hrut i dont knwo if its a pain u cant take that u have to say owww or if its jus sore but to elimnate cancles i saw on doctor ox that u should hears a vidoe tho :D

also if ur ankles hrut its prob a good pain form runnign cuz itll strengthen ur tendons and ligaments so its natuarll that it will hrut aorund ther – Mitchell Alorda

3)   Shin splints are more in front. You may have your achilles tendon tightening up which causes the muscle to be shorter so it pulls up on your foot where it’s attached to which also pulls your foot up into your ankle and that becomes pain there. You have to release your tendon to get rid of this pain and here’s how to do that:

Achilles tendon:

While sitting and your leg on your lap, take both thumbs and place them side by side at about ankle height on the tendon on the back of your leg and apply pressure hard and hold. After 30 seconds slowly raise your toes up as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your foot there for another 30 seconds.

For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed. – Douglas B

Back:

5)   You did not mention your age and how long you have been experiencing this pain. However, I guess you are about 35-40 and have been like this for a month. Am I right ?

In my opinion, this is the result of standing for too long in a long period of time. Additionally, at middle-age, people’s bones become more brittle because of the reduction of calcium. This could be another justification to your problem.

Well, talking about solution and advice, I think you should :

- First of all, find yourself moments to rest your own foot. A small chair (foldable, light weight), or a firm place to lean on is very useful.

- Secondly, you should try a new pair of shoes with soft soles. They would help reduce the stress on your foot.

- Thirdly, not offence but how much do you weigh ? Being overweight is also another reason of joint issues. Hence, try to keep fit as much as you can. Do some physical excercise regularly, and you will find it useful not only for your current problem. Ah, but I forgot, do not jog now. It could worsen the situation. Try something else like swimming (very good, I swim 2-3km 3 times a week).

Well, finally, just some advice from my experience. Hope that helps.

Best regards. – Shyo

3)   The muscle for your kneecap has tightened up pulling your kneecap up on and into the knee making it hard and painful to bend and/or straighten your knee. You have to release the muscle for your kneecap for this pain to go away and here’s how to do that:

Kneecaps:

Do while sitting on a chair with no front cross braces between the legs.

While sitting have your leg resting in a stretched position. Place both your thumbs, side by side, about 2 inches behind the kneecap and press down into your leg hard and then redirect the pressure a little towards the kneecap. After one minute slowly slide your foot back and under your chair as far as it will go, release the pressure but hold your foot there for another 30 seconds

Two important things, the thumbs together in the middle and the pressure on the leg, if there isn’t enough this won’t take. If this happens try it again right away. – Douglas B

Question 5
Stomach pains after eating?…  I am 15 years old for the past year and a bit I have been having stomach aches about 6+ times a day I went to the doctors they done 2 blood tests to see if I had any tolerances (food) they came up clear then they said they think the main cause is constipation so I was given some tablets to help me go to the loo. But for the last week about 15-30 minutes after I eat I have really bad pains in my stomach and I took the tablet yesterday. 3)   When you have pains that come and go it is because something is getting tight and releasing again to cause that pain to happen. When it goes to the stomach the only thing that makes sense is that you have a tight muscle in your back. When you do certain movements it causes that tight muscle to press against the nerves for your stomach where they leave the spine. That pressure causes the stomach to add some more acid into itself which is too much to have so it gets a burning sensation. The pains may be happening when you eat because of how you sit, either straight up which can cause pressure for the back muscle or slouched over which could add the pressure or something else all together. The way to get rid of the pain is to release the muscles in your back and here’s how to do that:

Back:

(do from a sitting position)

Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and firmly press on them and hold. My friend is in pain. What should he do?

Question 1
My friend is in pain. What should he do?…  He has these flare-ups where out of no where he will get severe pain. I want him to go to a hospital or the immediate care center but he wont go. He wants to "work through the pain". He wont even take Aleve. How can I convince him to go?

Answers
1)   Force him into the car and drive to the doctor’s or the hospital. He’s not likley to jump out of a moving car. Well, I would try explaining to him that he means a lot to you, and you don’t like seeing him in pain. Maybe that will help. – imalovesicksinger

2)   im usually against being a tattle tale… but if you guys are both under 18 or living in your parents homes, you should talk to his parents about it and tell them how concerned you are about him… becuz you dont know if its normal or if something is seriously wrong and he should get it checked out. – Raina

3)   Do not take no for an answer! Take him to the hospital. What harm can it do? Better safe than sorry. – TSK

4)   Well my answer depends on what kind of pain he is having but if it is severe and located in an area such as the chest, abdomen or head I would ignore what he is saying and just call 911 and get him some help right away before his "flare-ups" turn into something worse. Try and tell him that the pain he is feeling could be something bad or life threatening and that he should see a doctor just to be safe. We might be able to give you a better answer if we knew where the pain was located.

I had a exray and they said there was narrowing of hte spine, so they sent for a mri. okay the mri said :

Conus appear normal in configuration and ends at L1.

Vertebral bodies appear normal in height and alignment. Nonspecific small vertebral body hemangioma at L1.

Diminished disk signal at L4-5 and L5-S1 level suggest desiccation.

LUMBAR DISC LEVELS:

L1-L2: No central canal or foraminal stenosis.

L2-L3: No central canal or foraminal stenosis.

L3-L4: No central canal or foraminal stenosis.

L4-L5: Broad-based small disk bulge without central canal or foraminal stenosis.

L5-S1: Left subarticular/foraminal broad-based disk protrusion measures approximately 16mm transverse and

1)   I would go get a second opion.

Hope this helps. – mike d

2)   the test is pretty specific, you have a bulging disk that is pressing on the right side of your spinal cord. Until and unless that disk is reduced, either by rupture or physical therapy, you just have to put up with the pain. I would ask for a referral for physical therapy, and use a lot of ice packs on your lower back to decrease inflammation. A second opinion is always a good idea, but I think they will tell you the same thing. – essentiallysolo

Question 3
Why do I feel so weird?…  For a few days now I’ve just felt sick, but haven’t actually vomited. I also keep feelings dizzy. Another weird thing is I can’t stand the smell of things I used to like the smell of and feel sick even thinking of my favourite foods. Someone said it could just be a bug, but is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance for your answers

Answers
1)   It’s probs a bug you’ve got or low sugar levels with your dizzyness etc hope i helped – Billy

2)   Not to get you worried or anything but maybe your pregnant. If you vomit id suggest you buy a pregnant test. Best of luck. I hope you feel better. – Leslie

3)   pregnancy? could just be a bug though because i sometime get this. have you been taking any new medications/vitamin pills? i know that if i have a multivitamin pill on an empty stomach i go unbelievably queasy and i’ve vomited and i even went to the doctors because of it. it could just be a bout of gastroenteritis or the after effects of one. did you drink a ton recently and possibly strip the lining away from your stomach.

i’d say, get a pregnancy test just in case. try to eliminate anything from your diet that could be causing these issues, try to eat blander foods for a while, and go to the doctor. – FaggitTree
